THE BRIDAL COUPLE
Cecilia grew up in Sigtuna with her parents and older brother Fredrik. Already since childhood, music has been in focus and father Lars made sure early on that the taste in music was cultivated with both hard rock and jazz. Cecilia also made sure to take a teenage crisis-trip to the more alternative music and ran on gigs at various sleazy pubs - which was accompanied by black hair, orange bangs and sooty eyes. Once on the other side, the dressing style became a bit more normal, but the love for live music remained.
Beyond music, the ocean also holds a special place in Cecilia's heart - something that took her all the way to the Great Barrier Reef after high school, from where she called her parents and announced she was going to become a diving instructor. After a while, however, the distance from her family started to wear off and Cecilia headed back home.
After a 180 turn, dive logs were replaced with law books which took her all the way to the promised land of business law and she is now an attorney at law at Kilpatrick Townsend law firm.
Julian grew up in Danderyd with his parents and older sister. His interest in music in general and heavy metal in particular took off in his early teens, something he still maintains with drum and singing lessons and as many heavy metal concerts and festivals per year as possible.
In addition to his interest in music, he has been doing genealogical research for himself and for his estimated 7000 closest acquaintances. If you're one of the few who hasn't yet had your family tree built for you - let him know!
After studying law in Uppsala, Julian became a lawyer after a couple of years working at a law firm (and a short while in the Swedish Armed Forces) and is now a partner at the law firm Salmi & Partners. His spare time is spent with his fiancée, family and friends and preferably travelling.
THE FIRST DEJT
As a relatively new single, Cecilia wanted to try her luck on Tinder after a lively (read: boozy) night out in mid-January 2023, which she downloaded and sat down to start swiping, while voraciously munching on tuna, mayonnaise and sriracha straight from the plastic bowl she was mixing her food in. In the midst of her ardent swiping, she got stuck on a profile of a guy who had ‘Attorney at law’ and ‘Taller than your ex’ in his profile text combined with basic bro-gym and beach pictures. Dork and lawyer, the worst combination! She was going to match with him just to put him in his place...
The next morning, Julian matched with Cecilia and after Cecilia let her guard down a bit when Julian correctly answered ‘everything from Deep Purple to Pantera’ and not ‘Volbeat’ or ‘Takida’ to the question ‘What is heavy metal for you?’ they decided that they would meet at the prestigious establishment Teodoras on Kungsholmen that same evening. The rest, as they say, is history.
THE PROPSAL
In the beginning of 2024, both Cecilia and Julian felt it was about time for a big party, but no major parties, weddings or the like were about to happen in the near future. The simple solution was to organise a party themselves in early May to celebrate Cecilia passing the bar (it could have been a legendary jinx to book the party before the exam) and Julian's birthday. Julian, who had already bought an engagement ring and was waiting for the right moment (hungover a morning in the tent at the Sweden Rock Festival was one option on the table), thought this was the perfect opportunity to get down on one knee. Said and done, he proposed on stage in front of all their friends, and after Cissi responded with a resounding YES!, the party turned into an engagement party.
